Mahuika Mahuika, the keeper of fire possesses many traits such as kaitīaki/guardianship, responsible, insightful, long fuse/patient, protector, fierce, social good. These same traits can guide us online. #belikemahuika

Māui possesses qualities like playfulness, innovative, adaptable, growth mindset, risk-taker, curiosity, problem solver, crafty, goal-oriented, active pursuit, bug fixer and collaborator. #belikemāui

How do you learn best? Are you more like Mahuika or Māui? Why? Be brave, dive in and share a few sentences about yourself in the comments section below, so we can get to know each and learn from one another -tuakana–teina.

I think I am 80% Maui, I lose interest quickly when things are not fun, creative and have my mind churning. I believe I have Mahuika traits also. At times I need to follow a sequence, if I get confused or don't understand I can get a bit of an attitude. So I do need to play it safe some of the time.

Probably a 70% Mahuika, 30% Maui. Like learning to be fun but need to know the facts!

I would say that I am 90% Maui   and the 10% Mahuika is when I get frustrated and can't get something to work

I feel I lean towards Maui but definitely have some of Mahuika's traits as well. A lot depends on the situation and who I'm working with.

I'm a bit of both.  I think it depends on the topic and what I am learning as well as the purpose of my learning.

I am definitely a bit of both.   I am more like Maui. - as a learner! My attention span needs constant feeding with activities - therefore this is how I teach.  Learning need to be active, fun and dynamic.  As a teacher, I am both Maui and Mahuika.

I think I'm like Mahuika. I like to know as much as I can before I launch myself into something.

Dependent upon the activity and how engaged I am with the activity and how it has been explained or introduced to me, I can be either Māui or Mahuika BUT generally, I am Māui.
