Maui all the way for me! Leap in and sort out the details as I go...

Like the majority of other respondents to this question I am most definitely a mix of Mahuika and Maui. I really enjoy trying new things and often go out on a liimb and try a new teaching technique, topic, etc without spending a lot of personal time on it simply because I want to see how it will work with a particular group of learners. Other times (generally if I can see the value of something) I will patiently prepare for weeks building up, and generally going overboard in the preparation, before embarking on the particular technique, etc.

I am a definite combination of both Maui and Mahuika! I am more like Maui when I am confident in what I am doing/teaching.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is a combination of both Maui and Mahuika!  I feel confident teaching something I have a lot of knowledge and experience about but often feel like I might not be good enough or know enough to teach others!  I have learnt to be brave and back myself- something I tell my own students and kids to do!  I love to learn- my interest in learning is so much more when I am engaged in something I am passionate about- hence why I am extending my knowledge of DT

I move in both circles. Mostly like Maui but my role as classroom teacher pulls me into thinking like Mahuika depending on role and responsibility requirements. I need to 'understand' how it all fits like Mahuika before I can 'buy' in to something.

It depends on the context and the purpose.  Am I acquiring something for myself or to share with others? Am I embedding personal knowledge or transmitting/facilitating? It would be very difficult to be exclusively Maui or Mahuika. Ako ākonga fluid?

I would probably be more like Maui with some traits from Mahuika.

When I'm learning, I'm like Maui.

When I'm teaching I'm like Mahuika!

I am a mixture - I like to explore and learn new things, but I need time and no distractions.
